Job Description

Jolly Ranchers Daycare Inc. is looking for professional, caring and energetic Registered Early Childhood Educators to join our team in Grand Valley, Ontario. You will be expected to provide nurturing care and education to young children in a group setting. You will help children to enhance their cognitive, social, language, physical and emotional development by implementing daily activities for individual child and children as a group.

Qualifications for Registered Early Childhood Educator

  • A clear Criminal Reference Check
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • 2 year College Diploma in Early Childhood Education
  • Registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Minimum 6 months of recent experience working with children 0-6 years
  • Knowledge of and experience in early learning and child care programs
  • Knowledge of the early acquisition of literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to work in a team and self – motivated
  • Knowledge of Ministry of Education full-day early learning program
  • Ability to communicate in a sensitive, courteous manner with children, parents, staff and general public
  • Understanding a commitment to confidentiality
  • Basic computer and technological skills
  • Ability to speak French is a definite asset
  • Experience with special needs an asset
  • Food Handlers certificate an asset

Registered Early Childhood Educators Responsibilities include but not limited to the following;

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
  • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, taking children to local points of interest and providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art work, dramatic play, music and physical activity
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
  • Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
  • Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • May supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
  • Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and kitchen duties
  • Promote a welcoming environment for all families and community members
